  • Six-year exploratory trek, Panamint Mtns., Death Valley (death of companion)

  • 1989 cross-country survival trek, Badwater, Death Valley to Mt. Whitney

  • Winter 1996-1997, 350 mile, 35 day, cross-country trek, Battle Mtn., NV to California's Death Valley, with companion, Christine (Tina) Bowers; frostbite/injured feet

  • Recent exploration, Argus Range, due west of Death Valley

  • US Forest Service: 'hot shot' firefighter; blister rust' crew; 'rock buster' crew (blasting), G-3/black powder ....
